The form load shows that Monotype Corsiva is in the font library and the try picks up the error more elegantly. I use designer (or could use code) to change the default font for the Richtextbox and either type some text into the box or copy and paste from word a small text line which changes fonts and colours and then press button. Test program has a richtextbox (richtextbox1) and a listbox (lstFont) defined with a button (button2) to start the test. I'm sorry this was just a small extract used with debug with breakpoints to show that the selection font went to nothing when font was switched to corsiva. I have seen posts that show this font does not have a "regular" style but is there a way round this, presumably other fonts could exist that cause the same problem. If I set the default font for the box to be monotype corsiva this starts fine, picks up font changes to say Arial but errors when reverting later back to monotype. The new colour and backcolour have been updated correctly but the box.selectionfont is nothing. This works fine until i reach a change of font to monotype corsiva which errors as Null Reference exception was caught. This is based on several published suggested methods and covers change of colour, backcolour and font. Saunders' research and work done on creating Corsiva was televised on the BBC program, Landmarks.I have a small test program that iterates character by character to read through the contents of a richtextbox and convert to html to include in an e-mail. However, a court case concluded that Corsiva was sufficiently separate as a design to avoid payment of damages, noting that while the fonts were "similar", "the typeface is based upon 15th and 16th Century calligraphic designs from Rome and Venice. Zapf resigned from ATypI (Association Typographique Internationale) over what he viewed as its hypocritical attitude toward unauthorized copying by prominent ATypI members, specifically Monotype.

Monotype at the time created or licensed many lookalike typefaces for Microsoft software with identical metrics to popular fonts, including Century Gothic, Arial and Book Antiqua, also a Zapf knockoff. This typeface is released in formats compatible with LaTeX as well as with modern OpenType compatible systems.Ī popular lookalike design has been Monotype Corsiva, by Patricia Saunders at the Monotype Corporation.
An extended version TeX Gyre Chorus is another similar typeface based on the URW Chancery L font. URW Chancery L by URW (Unternehmensberatung Rubow Weber-from the founders' names now retitled URW++) provides a GPL-ed clone of the font. Like many typefaces of the period, imitations of Zapf Chancery were created for specific uses and by competing companies. It was named after the English name for a Renaissance handwriting style later adapted as an inspiration for early printing.
Zapf Chancery was announced in 1979 in six styles from light to bold, the demibold and bold styles being released without italics.
